Vacation Days

This past year, Rachel called every Saturday and Sunday (or any day her siblings were home) "vacation days."
The kids and Macy are all enjoying their summer vacation days so far, even though the weather has felt more like Back-to-School weather.  Last Tuesday night, all of the kids were jumping on the trampoline with the sprinkler cooling them off.
I put all of the winter hats, gloves and coats away the next day.
By Wednesday, the temperatures dropped, the wind came up and warm weather gear has been slowly making its way upstairs ever since.

Opening Day of baseball was on Tuesday, another very chilly evening.  Nathan pitched for the Pee Wee team, and was mostly thankful he didn't hit any batters.  No one's bats were very hot, so we hope they warm up (as well as the weather) for next week!
Northwestern beat Warner in the Midget game 3-0.

Practice makes perfect

Almost every day of our summer will find Nathan and me in the backyard practicing baseball.  He has done a little pitching and likes me to be his catcher.  He has also taught me to pitch so he can bat.  He's also taught me to hit a pop fly more consistently (even though he still gets plenty of accidental grounders, which make him more ready to play short stop)!
Macy started off spring fielding the ball for us, but that didn't last long before she realized that was too tiring of a job for a puppy!

Musical May (and some farming, too)

It has been quite a musical May!

And . . . Landen had his first FFA Banquet last Friday night.  He received the Discovery FFA Degree for his first year, so now he has a new pin for his jacket.

Last, but not least, has been the main project of getting our corn and beans in the ground.  After a quick (literally, less than a minute) training session last week, David put me behind the wheel of the tractor.  By the next day, Rachel and I were on our own for the afternoon.  We hope the soybeans all come up as they should. :)
