A {Truly} Lost Tooth

So, my baby lost her first tooth Friday evening! She let me know that her loose tooth had fallen out while we were at Friday night's football game. When I asked her where it was, she said she threw it in the grass because she didn't want to KEEP it! (It really is kind of ridiculous if you think about it . . . .)

We wrote a note to the tooth fairy so she would know where to stop.

Rachel has been doing very well writing her name in Mom's Preschool with the reward of chocolate chips. :)  The O is for Olivia, of course, and she always has to include it!

Football season!

It's football season once again!
We have had two junior high football jamborees so far . . . one beautiful day and one a tad bit chilly!
Even though I still don't understand most of this game, it is still always fun to enjoy the fall weather and watch the boys play.
I've also really liked catching up with and seeing old friends who have sons on other towns' teams!

Cluck, cluck, cluck!

The boys were given a job this summer--to build a shelter for their rabbits in our trees.
Somewhere along the way, Nathan's dream of having chickens reemerged. This desire became even stronger when our neighbors told him that they would give him some of their extra chickens.
Well, why not build a building for rabbits AND chickens?

Dad said that if he had a building, he could have chickens.
That's the only motivation he needed to begin construction.
Nathan really worked hard on his building, using mostly only hand tools and donated material from his dad and grandpa. He had a little help, but designed and built it all mostly by himself. His doors even have hinges and he made an enclosed yard for the chickens, too. After several weeks of work, he finished last Friday. He devoted every minute he had last week after school and on his day off to finishing the project. He even ate his after school snacks outside!
We were gone last weekend, so he was able to bring them home Tuesday after school.
Thanks again to Darwin & Camille for supplying Nathan with his first seven chickens.
He is one happy boy!!

It only took a day to find two eggs! This was his first one--made into a "cheesy egg" for his breakfast this morning.

Teenager

As of yesterday morning, we have a TEENAGER living in our home!
It is a bit surreal to think that our firstborn is 13 years old. (I always thought parents of teenagers were old, but we sure aren't! :) After all of those years of pushing him on the swing singing, "I've Been Working on the Railroad," trains are still his thing.
He is expanding his model railroad, so his wish list this year consisted of all things train related. We gave him a spine car from his list.

We had cake with the Joachim family last weekend, our traditional birthday day supper with Grandpa & Grandma and we will celebrate again this weekend with more cousins, too.
Happy Birthday, Landen!
