Happy Epiphany!

Happy Epiphany!

This day is the last day of the Christmas season, when we celebrate Jesus' visit by the Magi.
Although it is liturgically correct to still have our Christmas tree up in all its glory, I think this is the first time I have actually had it up for all 12 days of Christmas.
I could go with liturgically correct, busy putting other things away from vacation, or not wanting to go out in frigid temps to haul in the ladder to the attic.

Let's go with liturgical. :)

Happy New Year!

Happy, healthy New Year, everyone!
Today it is back to real life after a most amazing Christmas break.  From Christmas at the Capitol to Christmas with our families to skiing at Terry Peak with our friends last week--it was all an absolute blessing.

Our first day in the Black Hills with our friends and their families was COLD, so the kids (and David) built a tunnel, played cards, and we all went to a movie in the afternoon.

The next day, we were ready to hit the slopes at Terry Peak.  Rachel even took a lesson by herself.  I was so proud of her!  I am sure by next time she will be passing me up just like her sister.  She was also proud of herself, having a "lesson" and her "teacher" who taught her how to "make pizza" with her skis.

Teresa was old enough to take a group lesson and in no time was skiing with her Dad like crazy.  I have no photos of the boys.  They were on the other side of the mountain before I got out there!

Teresa and David allowed me to ride the chair lift with them.  They waited for me more than once on the way down, which was very nice of them. :)

Even though skiing really isn't my thing (even though I wish it was), it was so fun to watch our kids take off with it and I wouldn't have changed anything about our week.
We had great friends, great weather, great food, and a GREAT time all together.

Melius' Most-Read: Alaska's Three Pigs

Let's finish off the year with a Most-Read!

We have received several books from our friends Russ & Claudia in Alaska over the years.  Claudia used to teach at Cresbard School with me, but they are now teachers in a remote village there.

Nathan especially likes this version of the Three Little Pigs.

Big Game!

It's the Super Bowl at the Melius house--minus the hot wings and anticipated commercials!
It's Lions vs. Packers.
May the best team--and brother--win!

Christmas in Pictures

It is our family tradition to spend our Christmas Eve in Eureka.
Sometimes it makes us all feel a little crazy!

New Elsa and Anna outfits were a hit!

So were Lego kits . . .

and Uncle Vince's Mini-Me!

We ended the day with Christmas Eve mass and seeing old friends from Eureka.
It was a FABULOUS day!

On Christmas morning, Santa brought ice skates!

We will all soon be pros at our new family hobby.
We spent most of the day at home and then had a great time in Faulkton at the Melius Christmas.

We hope you all had a Merry Christmas, too, and Happy New Year!!!
